Privacy Policy
Draft. This policy is waiting on final details from the developer. Anything in [square brackets] still needs to be filled in before launch.
TimeBlockMe ("the app", "we", "us") is made by [Janna's full legal name], an individual developer based in Australia. Contact: support@timeblockme.app. We are bound by the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (including the Australian Privacy Principles) to the extent it applies, and we follow the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) for users in those regions.
1. The short version
- The free app works without an account. Your plans stay on your device.
- If you subscribe to Premium, your plans are stored in the cloud (Supabase, Sydney, Australia) so they can sync across your devices.
- Free users see ads from Google AdMob. You choose whether ads can be personalised.
- We don't sell your personal information.
- You can delete your account and cloud data from inside the app at any time.
2. Information we handle
| Information | Free (no account) | Premium (account) | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your plans: blocks, categories, notes, reminders, settings | Stored only on your device | Stored on your device and in our cloud database | To provide the app and sync it |
| Account details: email, name (if your Apple/Google account shares it), sign-in method | Not collected | Collected | To create and secure your account |
| Subscription status (trial, active, expiry, store) | Not collected | Collected from Apple, Google, Stripe via RevenueCat | To unlock Premium |
| Payment card details | Never collected by us | Handled by Apple, Google or Stripe | Payments |
| Device calendar events | Read on your device only; never uploaded | Same. Only events you choose to "Add as block" become blocks and sync | To show your events on your grid |
| Advertising data: device advertising ID, approximate location from IP, ad interactions | Collected by Google AdMob, subject to your consent | Not collected (no ads) | To show ads that keep the free app free |
| Crash and diagnostic data | [Minimal crash reports via [Sentry/Expo] if enabled, no personal content] | Same | To fix bugs |
| Analytics | [None in v1] | [None in v1] | — |
3. Where your data is stored
- On your device: all plans are stored locally in the app's database.
- In the cloud (Premium only): Supabase, hosted in the Sydney, Australia region (AWS ap-southeast-2).
- Service providers: RevenueCat (subscription status, USA), Stripe (web payments), Apple and Google (app store purchases and sign-in), Google AdMob (ads, free users). Some of these process data outside Australia (for example in the USA). Where GDPR applies, transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards provided by those companies.
4. Ads and tracking consent
- Ads appear only in the free mobile app, never in Premium or on the web.
- iPhone/iPad: we ask for permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency before any personalised ads. If you say no, you'll see non-personalised ads.
- EU, UK, EEA and Switzerland: we show Google's consent form before loading ads. You can change your choice any time in Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options.
- AdMob is set to show general-audience ads.
5. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Contract: providing the app, your account and Premium.
- Consent: personalised ads and tracking; you can withdraw at any time.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the service secure and fixing crashes.
- Legal obligation: keeping purchase records where required by law.
6. How long we keep data
- On-device data stays until you delete it or remove the app.
- Cloud data stays while your account exists, including if Premium lapses (so you don't lose your plans). It is deleted when you delete your account.
- After account deletion, data is removed from our live database straight away and from backups within [30] days.
- Purchase records are kept by Apple, Google or Stripe under their own policies.
7. Deleting your account and data
- Premium: Settings → Account & subscription → Delete account. This deletes your account and all cloud data. Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple or Google subscription; cancel it in your store settings.
- Free: Settings → Privacy → Erase all data on this device, or delete the app.
- You can also email support@timeblockme.app to ask us to delete your data.
8. Your rights
You can ask to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, object to or restrict processing, and withdraw consent. Contact support@timeblockme.app. We'll respond within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, in the EU/UK, your local data protection authority.
9. Children
TimeBlockMe is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Cloud data is protected by access rules so each account can only reach its own data. No method is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
11. Changes
We'll update this policy when the app changes and show the new date at the top. For significant changes we'll let you know in the app.
